Great little skillet
Seasoning coming along great. (3)weeks mainly breakfast, sausage, eggs, hash browns , nothing sticking so far. Using grape seed oil.
No, we do not currently have a lid for our No. 8 Chef skillet.
We use 2-3 coats of pure grape seed oil to pre-season your Smithey with. Seasoning is applied by hand and there are no chemical coatings of any kind applied to your skillet.
Our extended length leather skillet sleeve is custom fit for your No. 8 skillet.

The skillet looks nice. But unless using copious amounts of oil/cooking fat, expect lots of sticking, and the seasoning to strip when cleaning. Tried applying 6 layers of seasoning and using 80% ground beef to no avail. This skillet needs to be babied. I still haven't used it long enough to tell if it is functionally superior to cheaper skillets from other brands.
Fantastic
Using the Smithey 8-inch chef skillet has been an absolute delight. Its craftsmanship and heat distribution have impressed me beyond measure. I’m genuinely captivated by this Smithey cookware and its superior quality. It has quickly become my top choice for everything from morning eggs to quick meals. Cleanup is a breeze, and its sturdy build assures me of its longevity. Furthermore, its sleek design brings a touch of sophistication to my kitchen. Without hesitation, I endorse it to anyone in search of dependable and chic cookware.
I really love this little pan! It’s our go-to for breakfast and also perfect for searing a couple of steaks/fillets etc and sautéing veggies on the side - the gently curved sides make flipping food super easy. Like with other cast iron/carbon steel pans, the seasoning flaked off a few times at first, but the pan has developed a solid almost jet black seasoning after just a month of daily use. But honestly, you don’t need to worry too much about the seasoning - because of its polished smooth surface, food slides right off with or without a solid layer of seasoning. A quick swipe of oil after cooking is all it takes to keep it in good shape. First class all the way and I’m now planning to get the 10-inch chef skillet as well! Cheers to Smithey for always making cooking such a joy 🤩
